Honors Program:

The acceptance of an invitation to Mercy's Honors Program demonstrates a student's desire for rigorous academic challenge and the confidence to achieve as a thinker and a scholar.

● Honors students are required to take four years of Honors English, as well as Futures Studies during Senior Year.

● Incoming 9th graders have the option of beginning with Algebra I, Algebra I (Honors) or taking a placement test for Algebra II, Algebra II (Honors) or Geometry, Geometry (Honors). Calculus I and II also are offered as honors electives for our older students.

● Mercy's Honors Program includes Honors Biology and Chemistry, as well as Advanced Chemistry and Physics.

● Honors students take three years of honors social studies and are encouraged to take three years of a world language.

Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement is offered in the following courses: World Literature, Calculus, Advanced Calculus, U. S. History and Introduction to Psychology.

Advanced Placement (AP) offers the highly motivated student the opportunity to take college level courses that will prepare her for the rigors of the Advanced Placement Examinations. Students may earn college credit in this way. Although the best preparation for an AP examination is the AP course, AP courses are not a requirement for sitting for the AP exams. AP exams have been taken, for example, in U.S. Government, French and Spanish.
