Alumnae Awards
The McAuley Award to an Outstanding Alumna
This award, created in 1983 by the Alumnae Executive Board, should be a symbol to the community and present students of MHS that the values and spirit and integrity learned at MHS are held and maintained and expanded throughout a woman’s lifetime. In her years at MHS, a student learns something more than the 3 R’s which help to make her a valuable asset to herself, her family and her community. The McAuley Award is so named because, essentially, the criteria listed describe the qualities usually attributed to Mother Catherine McAuley, Founder of the Sisters of Mercy.
Criteria
The following criteria will be used to select the recipient:
Loyalty to Mercy High School
Leadership in the community or her field
Strength of character
Uniquely sensitive to her fellow human beings
Belief in “Mercy”
The courage of her convictions
Inspiration for other young women
Supportive of Mercy High School
Sr. M. Joannes Clifford, RSM Distinguished Alumna Award
This award was created in honor of Sister Joannes’ Jubilee and in gratitude for the many ways she has distinguished herself for the alumnae.
Increasingly the community of Mercy High School is impressed by the number of alumnae who have distinguished themselves in their careers, their many volunteer projects, and in their every day life. In an effort to recognize these accomplishments, the Mercy High School alumnae Executive Board voted to establish an award to be given to a loyal and supportive alumna who has distinguished herself in a particular field of endeavor either in a specific accomplishment or by continuing efforts in a given area, be it chosen profession, volunteer activities, or a personal commitment to an issue, project or cause who has made a lasting impact on the quality of life through her contributionsand is supportive of Mercy High School.
