The Women in Technology Program

The Women in Technology Program provides Mercy Girls with unique opportunities to explore career paths in technology and to gain experience and in-depth knowledge in various technology areas, including but not limited to programming, hardware and software design, information systems and databases, emerging technologies, and cyber security. This four-year program is designed to introduce Mercy Girls to an intense and broad technology experience.

This four-year program is open to incoming freshmen and prepares Mercy Girls to enter technology-oriented disciplines leading to high-tech careers in Baltimore and beyond.

Mercy Girls in the Women in Technology Program gain experience and in-depth knowledge in various information technology areas. The program features a three-credit sequence of computer science courses, guest speakers and field trips, opportunities for independent coursework, in-school service learning opportunities to develop skills and solve real-world problems, and the chance to network with women leaders in technology fields.

What is evaluated in the application process?
A supplemental application is required and acceptance is limited. Mercy Girls must have the following:
- Strong grades in middle school courses
- A well-written and thoughtful application statement submitted as a video
- Completed supplemental application
