The Mercy Girl Experience

Student Services

Our Student Services Team strives to create and maintain an environment that nurtures students and supports families through all four years of high school, while providing tools and resources that will last our Mercy Girls a lifetime. Support of each Mercy Girl’s personal and academic growth is provided through:

List of 4 items.

  • The Seminar Program

This four-year curriculum provides Mercy Girls with the tools they need to thrive academically, emotionally, and relationally. The Seminar Program consists of five strands.
  • The Learning Center

Mercy’s learning specialists help teachers understand students’ learning needs, works with students individually and as part of the  Seminar Program to identify their learning styles, and provide effective study skills and strategies so that each Mercy Girl can reach their full learning potential.
  • The Adviser Program

A four-year mentoring model, students are provided with daily care and attention, allowing them to thrive both at Mercy and in the future. Advisee groups are small, typically 15 students or less, and students usually stay with the same adviser throughout their years at Mercy. The Adviser Program includes:
    • Daily contact through morning advisory period
    • Monthly advisee meetings
    • Regular contact with families
    • Individual meetings as needed
The Adviser Program assures each Mercy Girl has a consistent contact with a faculty member in a manner different from a classroom relationship. The adviser oversees the student’s academic program and her progress and participation in all aspects of Mercy High School.

Each student is assigned an adviser when she joins the Mercy community, and at the end of her first year, she has the option to choose her adviser, thus allowing her to remain with the same faculty member for four years, or to change. This ongoing relationship provides better knowledge of the student and her family, and this relationship assists the adviser in helping each Mercy Girl with her academic and personal development.
  • Individual Counseling

Mercy has two full-time counselors on staff who meet with students individually, lead seminar classes, and work with teachers to effectively support Mercy Girls.
