Magic Nation Athletics
Magic Nation Athletics provides the opportunity for our Mercy Girls to develop fundamentals, skills, and strategies in a highly competitive and successful environment. More important, however, is the mission to give guidance in developing integrity, sportsmanship, self-concept, team concept, cooperative skills, self-discipline, and perspective in relation to sports competition.
Mercy athletics integrates the classic high school sports experience with a professional feel. We take pride in being leaders in the digital sports marketing of our Mercy Girls.
Magic Nation Athletics proudly partners with UnderArmour for athletic wear and MedStar Health Sports Medicine, the region’s largest sports medicine program. MedStar Health Sports Medicine has more than 90 team partnerships. The extensive network of highly trained specialists provides our Mercy Girls with the same resources offered to the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles, the Washington Capitals, and more.
Our athletic facilities set us apart! In Fall 2019, Mercy High School opened the Sisters of Mercy Athletic Complex featuring the Sisters of Mercy Field, for soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse, and the Mary Anne Heckwolf ’66+ Field, for softball.
In Fall 2022, the floor in Mercy’s spacious gymnasium was renamed the Mary Ella Marion ’76 Court. Mary Ella Marion ’76 retired from Mercy High School at the end of the 2021-22 school year after having served as dean of students, athletic director, and long-time Varsity Basketball coach. During her time as athletic director, Ms. Marion was instrumental in working to establish the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland, the league in which Mercy competes.

Fast Facts: The Sisters of Mercy Field
Did you know these facts about the Sisters of Mercy Field?- The Sisters of Mercy Field is the first athletic facility for girls in the Baltimore area to have installed lighting for nighttime games
- The field is home to a digital video scoreboard to assist with promotion of our athletics, and
- A state-of-the-art astroturf field with a special shock absorbing layer underneath for the safety of our athletes
