• Mercy, Catholic Values

  A Mercy education is firmly grounded in the Catholic tradition and the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy, and their founder, Catherine McAuley.
  
  Catherine McAuley was a strong female leader who was devoted to education, concern for those in need, compassion for the world, and service to the community. The Sisters of Mercy envision a just world for those who are in need, sick, and uneducated. In addition to the three vows all Catholic religious sisters take (poverty, chastity, and obedience), the Sisters of Mercy also take a fourth vow of service.
  
  At Mercy High School, we are committed to excellence, hospitality, service, justice, and compassion. We proudly carry forward the extraordinary legacy of Mercy education in Baltimore, which began at Mount St. Agnes in 1867. Our Mercy identity is found in our curriculum, prayer and liturgical life, retreats, and service opportunities, and is further strengthened by our global connections to the Sisters of Mercy, to 196 Mercy secondary schools across the globe, and to the Mercy Education System of the Americas, which unites and serves schools as they nurture highly competent and deeply compassionate leaders ready to serve a vulnerable world.

• World-Class Academics

  Our rigorous, college preparatory curriculum prepares students to write about and communicate ideas confidently as they think critically about global issues. Mercy Girls leave Mercy High School prepared to share Mercy values and leadership skills with the world.
  
  In 2019, Mercy became the only all-girls’ Catholic school in Baltimore authorized as to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), which aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, caring, young people through engaging coursework and a culminating sophomore research project. The MYP is the academic program undertaken by every 9th and 10th grade student at Mercy. 
  
  Mercy is a Candidate School for the Diploma Programme (DP), extending our commitment to providing a high quality, challenging, international education to 11th and 12th graders. Six subject groups, a high-level seminar on the nature of knowledge, a special project involving creativity, activity, and/or service, and a culminating essay comprise the Diploma Programme. The Class of 2027 will be the first to take DP courses as juniors.
  
  Mercy also offers 10 Signature Programs through which Mercy Girls can explore subjects that have already captured their interest at a deeper level of inquiry. Girls who have a special interest in science, medicine, technology, law, dance, visual arts, and more are challenged through these one of a kind programs.
  
  Mercy Girls can also pursue college credit through Advanced Placement (AP) courses and through dual credit classes at the Community College of Baltimore County and Notre Dame of Maryland University.

• Personal Focus

  Mercy’s small community and focus on each student’s individual goals and gifts mean each Mercy Girls receives personal attention and guidance throughout her high school years. The Sisters of Mercy have nearly 200 years experience in the careful instruction of adolescent girls, which we carry forward through our Student Services programming. 
  
  Mercy’s Adviser Program pairs each student with a faculty member for her high school years, creating a special relationship with each student and her family. Advisers meet with their students every day, see all report cards, come to know a student’s strengths, and can challenge her regarding areas in which she may need to improve.
  
  This attention to the individual is also a key component of our four-year Seminar Program, which bolsters study skills and supports the college search process. This program includes a focus on college and career planning that is sensitive to the particular gifts and needs of each student. With a detailed roadmap from our Student Services Team, students and their families navigate the college selection progress together including learning how to choose a college, how to think about future majors and careers, and how to access scholarships and financial aid.

• Strong Sisterhood

  Mercy traditions aren’t just about preserving the past...they are about creating the future! Starting with meeting your Big Sister, nurturing relationships are created, allowing for student-to-student support and mentorship opportunities. Traditions like Freshman Welcome Day, Sophomore Pin Day, Mercy Day/Ring Day, and Field Day celebrate milestones, both big and small, and unite current Mercy Girls to a network of more than 8,000 alumnae.

• Exceptional Arts Opportunities

  Mercy’s robust arts programming allows Mercy Girls to explore her creative gifts and share her talents. From foundational instruction to advanced study, Mercy’s Fine Arts Programs provide students with more opportunities than ever to find their voice, discover their passions, and develop their talents in dance, music, theatre, and visual arts.

• Competitive Athletics

  Magic Nation is a community unlike any other. We take pride in being leaders in digital sports marketing of our athletes. Since 2017, Mercy has won 14 IAAM championships. Our athletic facilities are unparalleled and we look forward to celebrating all our Magic athletes will accomplish in years to come!
